Meeting Start Time: 7:10 pm - End 9.00 pm

1. Walking- Mark mentioned that he would like to start walking so he can get more exercise and lose some weight. Mark asked what days would be good for members to walk. The reply from the meeting was to walk during both weeknights and also on the weekends. That way those members that are unable to walk during the weeknights may walk with the group during the weekends, AND those members that are unable to walk on the weekends may walk during the weeknights. The first time to walk as a group this year is set for Saturday April 22nd. Meet at Mark's condo at 6:30 P.M. Future times to walk will be determined at a later time.



2. On April 29th the group is planning on meeting at Eric's condo starting at 7:30 P.M., for a game night/movie night/ celebrating those members who have had birthdays between January 1st and April 29th. For Eric's address, please refer to the Fun Bunch address book, or wait for the e-mail with Eric's address. If you are planning on attending please let Eric and Mark know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Those members with birthdays from within that time frame are: o Eric o Mike B. o John W. o Susan G.



3. 3.Bowling- We determined that the best time to go bowling Bethesda's National Naval Medical Center is on Friday night May 5th at 7:00 P.M. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE BOWLING NO LATER THAN MAY 2nd!!! I have to notify the Base by then if you want to go bowling on May 5th. We also discussed whether or not it would be cheaper to go bowling at the National Naval Base in Bethesda on Friday nights OR if it would be cheaper to go bowling at the Shady Grove AMF lanes on Thursday nights from 9:00 P.M. Until 11:30 P.M. HERE IS THE DEAL: At the National Naval Medical Center we bowl from 7 to 9 on Friday nights and the cost is $2.75 for rental shoes and for two games of bowling it costs $7.50. AND at the Shady Grove AMF lanes we would start bowling at 9:00 P.M., and bowl un til 11:30 P.M. The cost of rental shoes is, I think, $3.00 and on Thursday nights there is a special of I think $9.00 for all you can bowl. I am interested in hearing at which place you would like to go bowling!!! Do you want to go bowling on Friday nights at the National Naval Medical Center OR do you want to go bowling on Thursday nights at the Shady Grove AMF lanes???



4. Future of Fun Bunch Meetings- The group discussed the future of Fun Bunch meetings. Mark had said that if the group wanted to go about having regularly scheduled Fun Bunch meetings again, then we would have to change the night of the regular Fun Bunch meetings on the 1st Tuesday of the month, AS I AM JOINING A PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB WHICH MEETS THE 2nd TUESDAY OF THE MONTH FROM SEPTEMBER TO JUNE. That means if we do have a regularly scheduled Fun Bunch meeting in the month of May, the meeting would take place on Tuesday May 2nd at 7:00 P.M. However, for those members that want to come and hear Dr. Jessie talk about previously agreed to topics, then those meetings will have to take place on a WEDNESDAY NIGHT as Dr. Jessie is unable to make the Tuesday night meetings. THEN THAT BRINGS ME TO THE POINT THAT ERIC BROUGHT UP; he thinks that we, the Fun Bunch, should forget about Tuesday meetings and just hold the Fun Bunch meetings before and after Dr. Jessie talks to the group on select Wednesday night meetings. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!! SHOULD WE DROP MEETINGS ON TUESDAY NIGHTS AND HAVE MEETINGS, 7:00 P.M. To 8:00 P.M. PRIOR TO WHEN DR. JESSIE SPEAKS TO THE GROUP 8:00 to 9:00 P.M. ???



5. 4th of July- The members present at the meeting had decided that they would like to do something on the 4th of July. Mark was not sure if people wanted to spend time with their own families on the 4th of July or not. If there is enough interest from Fun Bunch members, I might be willing to do a cookout at my place, and if I am able to get the OK from my condo's board then maybe go swimming at my place as well. ALSO, possibly going to see the fireworks at Richard Montgomery high school. LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!!!!



6. Rules- The group discussed if they wanted to make any changes, whether it be deletions. Additions, or any corrections to the rules. The areas that the group felt that we needed to focus on are: to keep personal life issues just that, private. ALSO, to make sure to pay the drivers gas money, whether it be driving to or from a meeting OR to or from an event. ALSO, to make sure to arrange for rides prior to meetings and events. In other words, do not wait until the end of a meeting or an event to ask someone for a ride home. Make sure to ask two or three days in advance of a meeting or an activity if you need a ride home.



7. Lake Needwood- Mark stated that he thought that it would be nice to either do a picnic or just simply walk around Lake Needwood. Mark suggested the following date: Saturday May 20th. So far the members that have expressed an interest in attending are Nathalie, Lorin, and Mark. The precise time of the event will be determined at a later time.



8. Williamsburg, Virginia- The group did not go into detailed discussion about this trip, but did mention that the group would possibly like to go to Williamsburg, Virginia sometime this year. Possibly in the summer in June or July. Cost and date availability is still some questions that the members have.



9. 9. Screening- This is when Doctor Jessie, Susan Healy, and Judy Lantz arrived at the meeting (8:00 P.M.) Judy had started to mention how Mark had been pressing for the LDA to help out with screening possible new members to Fun Bunch. At the start of this topic, Mark passed out current copies of the Fun Bunch questionarre, and of the Fun Bunch application forms to everybody present at the meeting. The final result of the discussion of screening was that we as a group are going to slightly change the application form to include questions such as highest level of education achieved, what is your exact disability/the nature of your disability, have you been with any other support groups. Those are some of the questions that will soon be asked on the Fun Bunch application form.



10. FUTURE TOPICS-The group discussed the ways that Doctor Jessie can help the group. One member stated that actual role playing of social settings would help with members self esteem. Other members stated that career issues would help. For a complete list of all the topics that were brought to Judy and Susan's attention Mark will have to consult Judy.



11. USE OF DAVIS LIBRARY- Judy had mentioned that she intends to ask the LDAMC board if they will approve the use of the Davis Library room so the Fun Bunch may have their meetings in the Davis library. Judy listed the proposed dates that she will ask the LDAMC board for. The dates are: July 12th, 2006; August 9th, 2006; October 11th, 2006, December 6th, 2006; February 7th, 2007, and April 11th, 2007.
