Valentine’s Dance 2007
-agreed on a theme song for the dance (Lady IN RED)
-Will be hosted at Dave & Buster’s at Arundel Mills mall. This place has a huge party room that has a DJ. They also have bowling lanes that we can rent. This event will also be catered by Dave & BUSTER’S.
-Daria checked with Glen Echo, and the Casey Community Center, and the Dave & Buster’s at White Flint mall. The Dave & Buster’s at Arundel Mills mall seems to have the best deal. Depending on how much money the Learning Disabilities Association of Montgomery County, Maryland would be willing to give to the fun bunch, tickets will be between $5 and $10.
-Daria has come up with three options to choose from and will present them at either the august or September meeting.
-Daria needs the names and numbers of organizations to invite.
-So far Daria has contacted the following groups: best buddies, chadd of Montgomery County, and chadd of Anne Arundel County.
-At the meeting we determined that the best time to have the Valentine’s party would be on Saturday, February 10th, 2007.
- Holiday party 2006
-Daria suggested having the party at either the community room at Mark’s condominium or at a restaurant.
-Mark suggested having a two or three hour “cocktail party” at the community room for both family members of fun bunch members and after the “cocktail party” has members only go to a restaurant for dinner.
-I have heard other people suggest just doing a dinner at a restaurant for members only.
-Please send an e-mail to both daria and mark to let us know which format you would prefer for this year’s holiday party!
-At the meeting it was agreed that the best day to hold this year’s holiday party would be either Saturday, December 2nd or on Saturday, December 9th.
-please send an e-mail to both daria and mark to let us know which date you would prefer for this year’s holiday party.

August/September-
-Daria suggested having September 9th as the day to have the crab feast to mark the September birthdays as well as the end of summer. Not all of the September birthday people were not able to make this date.
-Mark suggested pushing the date to have a crab feast to a later date and to commemorate the Fun Bunch’s 7th anniversary. The crab feast is scheduled for Saturday September 23rd.
- Social Events - Due to the lack of time to discuss this matter, Mark proposed that we could send out in an e-mail and members could send an e-mail in return telling of their thoughts on the matters.
Here is the list:
1) Bowling- When shall we do that again?
2) Fourth of July- Who wants to have a pool party?

- TOPICS for Dr. Jessie to cover:
Here is a list of topics that members who attended the meeting suggested:
-Trust
-Self-Esteem
-Social Skills
-Motivation- As it relates to time management
-Assertiveness
- Williamsburg, Virginia Trip:
Agreed that it would be wise to postpone the trip to either December (Daria hears that it is beautiful during the holiday season) or to late spring. Due to lack of time to plan a weekend trip to Williamsburg and the fact that nobody will have enough money to pay for the trip is why we are postponing the trip until a later time.

- Dr. Jessie:
- Informed Dr. Jessie of the July meeting date and of of the meeting location at the Special Needs/Davis Library.
- Discussed situations involving “small talk” and ways to “break the ice” in various situations. Agreed that one needs to be aggressive and take the initiative to introduce one’s self to the other person and to ask questions such as “how are you doing”; “Where are you from”; and the typical “what are your favorite…” questions.
- Discussed what type of things that one can say to “break the ice” and how to make “small talk” and to keep the conversation flowing. The consensus was to ask about favorite movies, favorite foods, favorite books, favorite authors, and favorite music.
- John W. and Walter role played a situation involving a new co-worker and a worker that has been there for a while and introducing one’s self to the new worker and making the worker feel welcome.
- Just before the meeting ended, Dr. Jessie was informed of the select dates that the Fun Bunch is now scheduled to meet at the Davis Library. She was also informed as to what topics the Fun Bunch had decided to use as topics for future meetings.
- After a group vote, it was decided that the topic for the July meeting would be motivation as it relates to time management both at work and at home.
- NEXT MEETING:
July 26th at 7:00 P.M. at the
Davis/Special Needs library
