  1. Social Events:
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Trip - The group finalized plans for the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania trip. The following members attended the ghost walk: Mark, Nina, Cathy, Mike, Tom, Tom’s wife Keri, Walter, and Eric. Daria met us for the early dinner at COZY’S restaurant, but could not attend the ghost walk. The original plans for the trip were for members that were close to Bethesda to meet at Mark’s apartment at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 13th. Due to both Walter and Daria running late, we did not leave Mark’s apartment until 1:50 p.m. Also, the original plans called for meeting at the parking lot of THE GREEN TURTLE restaurant at 2:00 p.m. T he actual time of arrival at the GREEN TURTLE restaurant was 2:15 p.m. We left the parking lot at 2:45 p.m. We then drove to Thurmont, Maryland and arrived at COMFY’S restaurant at 3:40 p.m. We actually sat down and began to eat at COMFY’S restaurant, where there was a surf and turf dinner buffet. We then left COMFY’S restaurant at 6:30 p.m. and then proceeded to drive to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and we arrived at 7:00 p.m. We purchased our ghost walk tickets, and then we sat until 8:00 p.m. when the ghost walk started. Group members seemed to have a lot of fun, as the Civil War hauntings handed out free electronic ghost finders. Tom’s wife might have possibly captured 3 orbs in a single picture. We will have to wait until Tom gets the pictures printed up to be able to tell for sure.

  2. Social Events:
Halloween Party - John V. now has his own place in Silver Spring, Maryland and wants to have this year’s Halloween party at his place. This year’s party will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will last until ??? I presume until 9:30 or 10:00 p.m. Anybody who attends the pary is asked to bring a bag of candy and some sort of something to eat, and of course any and all Halloween decorations that you have.

Please contact either Daria or John V. for directions. John V.’s address is:

  3. Social Events:
Holiday Party - We have decided to have this year’s holiday party on Saturday, December 15th at 7:00 p.m. It was mentioned that it is a nice place and that it will be a tad expensive, I think that Daria mentioned that it may cost as much as $30 a person. The group also agreed that everybody has to RSVP no later than December 7th. For this year’s party will are planning on having immediate family members attend, however, we still need to call the restaurant and make sure to reserve a spot for our group, and to see if they would have a private room or not. More details to follow.

  4. GUEST SPEAKER
Dr. Jessie and Judy both arrived at 8:00 p.m. The group arranged the room into a circle of chairs, to try and make the room a more appropriate setting in the event that Dan and Dan’s mother would come to the meeting, as they had been invited to attend the second half of the meeting. The group waited about 10 or 15 minutes, and at 8:20 we decided to go on with the meeting, even though Dan and his mother were not present at the meeting. Mark mentioned the need to draft up a few sentences regarding the issue of making sure that in the event of a serious issue/issues arise within Fun Bunch to make sure that Fun Bunch members work the issue/issues out on their own and to not bring significant others, parents, guardians, etc. into the Fun Bunch business. This draft will be voted on at the next meeting. The following is what the Fun Bunch came up with after having a discussion with both Judy and Dr. Jessie present:

NON-MEMBER RULE - "When a Fun Bunch member, or an inactive Fun Bunch member, has a current and serious grievance/issue, then that member shall deal with the Fun Bunch and NOT bring parents, guardians, significant others into the the ordeal/situation AND the majority decision of the Fun Bunch will be final."

At the conclusion of the discussion of the creation of this new POSSIBLE new rule, there were still about 15 or 20 minutes before the meeting ended AND Dan and his mother still had not arrived. So the group decided to discuss other issues such as any member who would like to become a member of the Montgomery County Learning Disabilities Association may do so by filling out an application and in place of the usual $40 fee to join, a FUN BUNCH Member may cross out $40 and write-in “FUN BUNCH MEMBER” and will be allowed to become a member by paying $20 and filling out an application. If interested then please contact Mark or contact Judy. The group also discussed the issue of who needs computers. LDAMC has teamed up with a non-profit organization in Rockville, Maryland so you may get a computer by having the LDA write a letter and by that member paying $5. YES, it would be a “clunky” computer, but it will have modern day programs on it.

At the conclusion of this conversation, Dan’s mother and Dan were still a “no-show”. Due to this fact, both Dr. Jessie and Judy and Mark ALL now AGREE that Dan and his mother turned down the invitation, and therefore no longer interested in FUN BUNCH. Therefore, this issue is now ONCE AND FOR ALL OFFICIALLY CLOSED.

  5. Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday November 14th. The meeting will take place at the Davis Library. The meeting will be in the “Big Room”. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. Believe it or not we can actually resume talking about real issues with Dr. Jessie at the November meeting.
