Welcome & Happy New Year!!!!

1. December & January Birthday Celebrations
   
   We are scheduled to celebrate BOTH the December and January Birthday celebrations on Saturday January 12th. We will meet at the Fudrucker’s on Rockville Pike in Rockville, Maryland at 7:00 p.m. to celebrate the following birthdays: Martha (December 14th), Tom (December 31st), and Eric (January 27th). Don’t forget to bring birthday cards, balloons, etc. for the birthday people.



2. Tom & Keri’s Belated Nuptial Celebration
   
   We will also celebrate, belatedly, the fact that Tom and Keri were married back in July 2007, on Friday night January 11th at Fudrucker’s in Rockville. We will meet at 7:00 p.m. at Fudruckers.



3. Game Night
   
   We discussed this matter and decided to have a game night on February 9th at 7:00 p.m. The game night will take place at



4. Movie Night
   
   We discussed this matter and decided to possibly do a movie night sometime in either March or April.



5. Future Fun Bunch Meetings
   
   The group was informed that the current plan for February, March, and April meetings is to hold the meetings at Nathalie’s and Carla’s condominium building, which is Due to the fact that the free parking at the metro parking meters does not begin until 7:30 p.m., the group was told that we will not begin the February, March, and April meetings until 7:35 pm. Since we will be starting the meetings at a later time, that also means that we will not end the meetings until 9:40 p.m. When told this information, the group members present at the meeting seemed to be OK with this. For everyone’s information the address of the February, March, and April meetings will be:



6. Saint Patrick’s Day Party
   
   Nina is thinking about hosting a Saint Patrick’s Day Party at her condo’s community room. I realize that this is in Ashburn, Virginia, but Nina would really like to do this party at her condo’s community room. The suggested date for the party is on March 15th, 2008. The following members expressed that they would come to the party: Daria, Walter, John V., Carla, Nathalie, Eric, Lorin and his girlfriend Jill, Jill of the Fun Bunch, and Cathy and Mike depending upon their schedule that weekend.



7. Cathy & Mike Shower
   
   We discussed this, and Cathy and Mike chose March 22nd as the date to celebrate their wedding shower. However, Mark realized, after the meeting, that March 22nd is the night before Easter. I will ask Cathy and Mike, if they really want to have their celebration the night before Easter. One thought that has crossed my mind, is instead of doing three consecutive Fun Bunch events in March, I propose to have Cathy and Mike’s shower on March 8th AND then on March 15th, have a combined March birthday celebration and a Saint Patrick’s celebration. Whenever we do celebrate Cathy and Mike’s wedding shower, we will have the wedding shower for Cathy and Mike at Just so everybody knows, their wedding day is set for May 17th, 2008..



8. March Birthday Celebrations
   
   The March birthdays are Mike B. [March 1st] John W. (March 30th) and Carla ( March 17th]. At the meeting, the group agreed to celebrate the March birthdays on March 8th. However, there might be a chance that me might celebrate the birthdays on March 15th at Nina’s. Keep Posted.



9. Summer Kick-Off BBQ
   
   The group agreed that it would like to do a Summer kick off BBQ, with family members invited, on May 23rd. The BBQ will start at 7:00 p.m. The party, might be at Daria’s parents house. She will ask her parents if it would be OK to have the BBQ at their place in Darnestown, Maryland.



10. Yearly Review
    
    The group did its annual ritual of reviewing the previous year’s events and after doing so, it was clear that the group wants to keep the following events for 2008:
    
    Gettysburg, PA trip (With a ghost walk], the Halloween party. The Saint Patrick’s Party, and the 4th of July event. The group could not come up with any activities that we do not want to do in 2008. The group ALSO discussed which topics we would like to cover/discuss at length in 2008, they are:
    
    More role playing scenarios to enhance self esteem, review, on an individual basis, each individual’s high’s and low’s every month, and finally to talk more about conflict resolution.



11. Topics- 2007 GROUP GOALS
    
    We as a group spoke about how we did in achieving our 2007 Group Goals. From those goals, we clearly fell short of increasing membership by 15%. The second group goal, better communication skills between members, we seemed to improve upon that goal. Our third goal, try new events, we seemd to try some new events such as going to Leesburg, Virginia, had a Halloween party, and we also celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day by going out to lunch at Clydes in Rockville.
    
    2008 FUN BUNCH GROUP GOALS The group discussed which goals we should put in place for 2008. After a discussion we decided to have the following group goals for 2008:
    
    A) Increase membership by 3 new members
    B) Better communication between members
    C) More exercise
    D) Healthier Eating
    E) Healthier Lifestyle
    F) Better Group Interaction



12. Exercise Group
    
    This was Daria’s idea. Since she had to leave the meeting early, we did not discuss this matter. We can plan on discussing this matter at next month’s meeting. Although I will say, that Daria had wanted to see who is interested in starting up an exercise group. She also wanted to get a feel for which type of exercise activity the group would be interested in doing, and of course how often to meet.



13. Healthy Choices As A Group
    
    Once again, this was Daria’s idea. Since she had to leave early, we did not discuss this matter either. Although we can discuss this matter at next month’s meeting. Daria had wanted to suggest that we make a list of “healthy” restaurants in the area, AND emphasize that it would be better to drink more diet sodas or tea. Mainly that sugar is the enemy. She had also wanted to mention that when baking desserts, to use splenda in place of sugar.



14. Valentine’s Dance Party - 2009
    
    This matter was not discussed as Daria had to leave the meeting early. We will discuss at next month’s meeting. Daria had wanted to members to know that the dance will take place on Friday night February 14th, 2009. She had also wanted to see who would be willing to be on the planning committee for this event. Daria had also wanted to talk about making our own decorations for the dance OR buying Valentine’s decorations when they go on sale after Valentine’s day this year. Daria had also wanted to talk about a menu for the Valentine’s dance, and to also create a list of songs to play, and to get a DJ.



15. NEXT MEETING
    
    The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday night February 13th. PLEASE NOTE the different location.
