Meeting Location: Strathmore Court Apartments, Community Room

Members Present: Mark, Nina, Nathalie, Daria, Jen (Daria’s friend), Eric, Cathy, Mike, Bob, John V.

Meeting Times - Start: 7:30 pm - End: 8:45 pm

1. Dr. Jessie
   
   Dr. Jessie arrived at 7:30 and the group took a vote in regards to which topic to talk about; Martha or Communication Skills. After the vote it was still clear that we had a split, so we decided to go ahead and to first talk about Martha. The group agreed that Martha was a classy lady and will definitely be missed! Before we talked about Martha, Dr. Jessie had brought a photo album of her baby to the meeting, and the picture album was passed around the room for all to see. It was at this moment when we started to talk about Martha. Dr. Jessie was told about Martha and was shown a picture of Martha, followed by our feelings on the issue of Martha no longer being alive. After that we discussed or talked about our favorite Martha memories. One memory was how Martha enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and how she dressed up as a clown for a Halloween party that was held in Bowie, Maryland. Another memory of Martha was at last year’s 4th of July picnic and how Martha would correct/comment on various members’ colorful language. One other memory that came up was how Martha attended the dinner/wedding shower for Cathy and Mike and how she had told Cathy that she was really looking forward to attending Cathy and Mike’s wedding on May 17th.
   
   After the group was finished discussing Martha, we were going to discuss communication skills with the goal of through role playing attempting to help various members with their communication skills. Although some of the members that we were going to attempt to help were not present at the meeting. The group decided to switch to the topic of Individual Goals. From memory, Mark mentioned some of the members’ individual goals. From there we began discussing some of the group goals. Among one group goal that was discussed was leading a healthy life style and exercise, although the discussion was mostly on exercise. After the discussion, the group agreed to start the exercise group and to walk on Sunday April 13th at Noon time at the Grosvenor/Strathmore subway station. 4 Members showed up for the walking: They were Mark, Nathalie, Eric, and John V. We walked around the Grosvenor/Strathmore station to the surrounding streets. The next walk we agreed that we will try and walk in Georgetown. Date and time to be determined at a later date.



2. Daria’s Friend
   
   The group introduced themselves to Daria’s friend, Jen. I am not sure if Jen wanted to meet the Fun Bunch OR wants to become a member, but I will ask Daria.



3. March/April Birthday Celebration
   
   Mark mentioned that at the Saint Patrick’s party, where we were supposed to have celebrated the March birthdays, that none of the members with a March birthday were not present at the party. After Daria, Jenn, and Eric left, there were not that many members left, not to mention the only person with a March birthday present at the meeting was Mike. After an extremely brief discussion, it was discovered that Mike’s (March) and Bob’s birthday will most likely have to be celebrated at some point in time after Cathy and Mike’s wedding. Possibly sometime in late May. However, the remainder of the March birthdays; Carla, John W., and Doreen, might be able to be celebrated sometime in April. Although this event will have to be arranged through e-mails. As far as I know the only April birthday in the group is Bob, and he told us that he would prefer to celebrate his birthday at some point in time after Cathy and Mike’s wedding. Keep Posted.



4. May Birthday Celebration
   
   By the time this topic came up, the members that remained at the meeting were ready to leave, so this topic was not discussed and therefore no date proposed. The 3 members with May birthdays are: John V., Mark T., and Steven D. With the group maybe celebrating Mike’s and Bob’s birthdays in late May or early June, I would say that the only days in May that we could celebrate the May birthdays would be: May 3rd, May 10th, or May 31st.



5. Cinco de Mayo
   
   Again, this topic was not discussed at the meeting, but Mark was wondering if we wanted to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. I remember that we celebrated Cinco de Mayo last year, although I think that Cinco de Mayo was on a Friday or Saturday last year. This year Cinco de Mayo falls on a Monday. Perhaps we could celebrate the weekend before Cinco de Mayo or if members prefer maybe celebrate on the actual day. Let me know what you think.



6. Next Meeting
   
   The next Fun Bunch meeting will take place on Wednesday May 14th at the DAVIS LIBRARY. I think that we have use of the “small” room that night. See you at the next meeting!!!
