- Topic Discussion
Not staying at home being bored. How to go about creating stuff to do. Coco reminded us that she had assigned us homework. The discussion began by members voicing what they felt could be done to initiate on their own, creative ways and or ideas to create your own social life and not sit at home bored. Mark did his homework and went online and went to meetup.com and typed in “museums-in D.C.” Mark printed out the results. Mark mentioned the different meetup groups in relation to museums and the following were the groups that would possibly interest the Fun Bunch:
THE WASHINGTON MUSEUM MEETUP GROUP
DC SMART SINGLES; DC/MD/VA MUSEUM AND DAY TRIPPERS MEETUP GROUP
CULTURAL ACTIVITY GROUP; LLC FOR SINGLES.
Here is more detailed information for each of the groups:
WELCOME, D.C. SMART SINGLES- Has 222 members, was founded in November 23rd, 2008. This group does hiking, art, and goes to museums.
WASHINGTON MUSEUM GROUP- Has 1,473 members and goes to museums and art galleries; has had 55 meetups so far and was founded April 10th, 2006.
After a discussion, Mark wanted to know what types of groups members of Fun Bunch would be interested in. Here are the results:
scrapbooking: 3 members
movies: 8 members
museums: 4 members
volleyball: 4 members
hiking: 7 members (maybe 8 members)
The prevalent topics were hiking and movies. Mark will print up results for these two topics. If anybody else would like to print up results for any of the other topics, then be my guest.

At the meeting, we agreed to go see the National Tree/Menorah at the ellipse in Washington, D.C. on December 27th. However, Mark was so busy, that he did not send out an e-mail until it was too late. There was another attempt to go see the National Tree on Friday January 2nd, 2009 but including Mark, two members became sick and the other members one-by-one declined to go. Perhaps in December 2009 we can go see the National Tree/Menorah.
