Members Present: Mark, Nathalie, Cathy, Bob, Eric, Melissa, Daria, Stephen, Coco

Meeting Start Time: 6:35pm Meeting End Time: 8:30

  1. Welcome:
    The group welcomed its newest member, Melissa Lackford. Each member present introduced themselves.


  2. Donations:
    Group was informed that this would be the last chance to donate towards the fund going to the MARYLAND SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF. It was announced that Mark would type up a letter to go along with the money/checks for the Maryland School For the Deaf.


  3. Election:
    Paper ballots were handed out and members voted for each position. The ballots were then given to Coco to hold onto. At home, Coco counted the ballots and e-mailed the results to Mark. The day after the meeting, Mark e-mailed electronic ballots to those members who were not present at the meeting. Mark announced that they had 5 days to get their ballots back to me. By Wednesday, Mark had counted up the electronic ballots and the results of the paper ballots, and thereby came up with the results of this year's officer election results. The following are the results of the election:

    (If Lorin does not want to be both V.P. and Marketing Coordinator, then perhaps Stephen and Eric would like to be co-chairs)


  4. Career Mentoring/Workplace Discussion Group:
    Announced to the group that August Spector had talked to us about the possibility of starting up a career/workplace discussion group. Everyone seemed to like August Spector, and prior to the end of the meeting with August Spector, it was agreed that we would indeed start up a career/workplace discussion group with August Spector starting in September. However, we still need to pick a night of the week to have the meetings (once a month). Monday and the 3rd Wednesday of the month are not good nights. That leaves us with Tuesdays, the 1st, 2nd, or 4th Wednesday of the month, Thursday, or perhaps Friday. I am not sure if people would want to have these meetings on a Friday night. I am not sure if August does weekend meetings. Please let me know what day that you would prefer.


  5. Logo Contest:
    It was announced that since the group is rapidly approaching the 10th anniversary, we the group will be having a contest to see who can design the best 10th anniversary Fun Bunch logo. The contest will run now through the September Fun Bunch meeting, September 16th.


  6. Putt-putt golf:
    The group had tentatively set the date of July 18th to go putt-putt golfing. However, we have postponed this event. No date has been set.


  7. 10th Anniversary:
    To date, we have 4 possible events that we could do to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Fun Bunch group. It was agreed that we need to start narrowing down the list of events and start talking about a possible date for the 10th anniversary event. The possible events are:

    going to a murder mystery dinner
    having a party
    going to Kings Dominion
    Going to Eric's father's lake house

    After some discussion, it seemed that the two most popular choices were to have a party, Kings Dominion, and the 3rd place event was the murder mystery dinner. It was also mentioned that although the actual anniversary will be September 21st, we may not celebrate until some time in October. Please let Mark know your choice as soon as possible!!!


  8. Fun Bunch Officer Meetings:
    Fun Bunch Officer Meetings- At one point we used to have officer meetings, but we have gotten away from having them recently. Do we want to have officer meetings again??? It was agreed that we would wait until the results of the election were in. If the group feels that they want to have officer meetings again, then we need to figure out when to have them.


  9. BBQ Cookout:
    The group discussed this matter, and Cathy Burke agreed to have a BBQ/swimming party at her place on Saturday August 15th. We need to come up with who will bring what to the party. Here is the list so far:

    Cathy- Hot Dogs and buns
    Daria- Deviled Eggs
    Eric- Macaroni Salad


  10. Next Meeting:
    The next meeting will take place at the Strathmore Court Apartment Community Room at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday August 19th.
