- Photo Request:
Judy Lantz, president of the Montgomery County L.D.A., has requested a photo of the Fun Bunch to use in a new Montgomery County L.D.A. brochure. Upon discussion, the group decided on one or two photos to use. Just need to get permission from each individual in the photo to use in the Montgomery County L.D.A.’s new brochure.
- Proposed New Rule:
2 or 3 meetings ago, we had discussed a proposed new rule. Mark had written down ideas that members had mentioned. After discussion at tonight’s meeting, it was agreed that the new proposed rule would actually turn into 3 separate new rules, and they would be:
• “No member shall wear clothing that is obscene and/or derogatory.”
• “No member shall wear informal clothing at a formal event (ie. The Fun Bunch holiday party)”.
• “No member shall wear provocative clothing at meetings and events.”
After put to a vote, the 3 new proposed rules were OK’d and then voted to become the Fun Bunch’s new rules.
- Rule #6:
This rule deals with gas reimbursement. Since the group has not discussed this issue for a long time, we need to decide a new and fair way to reimburse drivers for gas money.
The following were discussed:
• Charge each car passenger by the mile/ charge of someplace between .50 cents and $1.00 per mile( extra money for long trips)
• Wait for the gas receipt, then charge each passenger(driver gets a “free ride”) divides the cost of the gas receipt evenly and thereby coming up with the cost per passenger to give to the driver.
It seemed that from the discussion, that the 2nd choice seemed to be the fairest and most agreed upon option. To be safe these two choices will be voted on at the next meeting.
- Fun Bunch 10th Anniversary:
We discussed the Fun Bunch anniversary event, and it seemed to be a tie. The tiebreaker came and it was agreed that we would do the murder mystery dinner at Silver Spring’s Blair mansion on Saturday September 12th. Time to be determined. The cost of this event is $50 and that includes the cost of the dinner and the cost of the murder mystery.
- Eric’s Father’s Lake House:
Eric mentioned that this trip would have to be postponed until next summer. Perhaps June or July 2010.
- Multiple Month Birthday Celebration:
After discussion, it was decided that we would do the next multi-month birthday celebration at Carabba’s restaurant in Germantown, Maryland. This event will take place sometime in October. The exact date has yet to be set. More details to follow. The following members will have their birthdays celebrated: Natalie, Daria, Cathy, Walter, and Melissa.
- BBQ Party:
All that attended had a good, but HOT time at the BBQ party. A HUGE thank you to Melissa who provided napkins, plastic ware, and paper plates YET did not attend the party and another huge thank you to Lorin for bringing ice to save the day!
- August Spector Career Discussion Group:
At the time of the meeting, there was still no word from August. Since then, August called and the next Career discussion group will take place on Tuesday September 15th at La Madeleine’s on Rockville Pike (Same shopping center that Toys R Us is located) The start time will be 7:00 p.m. There will be a $5 per person charge for the meeting.
- Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be Wednesday September 16th at 6:30 p.m. at the Strathmore Court Apartment Community room. Do not forget that if you drive to the meeting, you need to bring change to pay for the parking meter ( the parking meter goes until 7:00 p.m.)
