- October Events:
So far this month, we have had two good activities; the first was a group photo in front of Bertucci’s Restaurant and the other was a soggy and cold, but enjoyable trip to Mount Vernon. We toured the mansion at Mount Vernon followed by taking the National Treasure 2 Tour followed by shopping at the Mount Vernon store, followed by traveling to Reston, Virginia for dinner at Carrabba’s Italian Restaurant.
- Fun Bunch 10th Anniversary Logo:
Nobody had brought any completed logos, although Mark did mention his idea for a logo. We will make the November meeting the deadline for a 10th anniversary Fun Bunch logo.
- November Activities:
During the meeting we tentatively set aside Saturday November 14th, for some holiday shopping. We tentatively mentioned Tysons Corner as a location to shop, but that is not yet in concrete. Stay tuned for more details.
- December Activities:
During the meeting, we discussed this matter, and it appears that for this year’s holiday party we will celebrate at a to-be-determined restaurant. It appears as if this year’s party will be Fun Bunch members (and significant others) only. We tentatively set Saturday December 5th for this year’s party. YES, I know that this seems early, but since Hanukkah starting on December 12th, this seems to be the best possible time to have the party. We will discuss this matter more at the November meeting. Think about which restaurant would be a nice match for the Fun Bunch to attend.
- Bertucci’s Night:
We did discuss some concerns and issues regarding the night the group went to Bertucci’s. There seem to be a good productive discussion on this matter. The group also came up with some solutions/good ideas to use in the future. Among some of the issues discussed were the need for certain information to be provided in future e-mails: an actual address of any place the group meets; a contact number where the event leader can be reached; the need of each member to have either a cell phone OR enough cash to make a call from a pay phone; also the importance of each member replying back YES or NO or a worst case scenario NOT SURE to let the event leader know who is and who is not attending an event. One other idea that surfaced was the possible use of either E-VITE or TWITTER for the Fun Bunch to use.
- GIFT TO FUN BUNCH:
Coco presented to me, a card from the Montgomery County L.D.A. and also from Coco, with $125 inside. The card was a Happy Birthday/Happy Anniversary Card to the Fun Bunch. We can use the money any way that we would like to. Perhaps we can talk about how we want to spend the money at the November meeting.
- Announcement From Mark:
Mark told the group, that due to personal and work reasons, that as of March 1st, 2010 his title will still be FOUNDER of the Fun Bunch, but will NO longer be the “Go-To” guy as he calls it. Essentially, after March 1st, 2010 Mark will not be responsible for typing up agendas, will not be responsible for typing up the minutes of the meetings, and will no longer have to attend the events. In effect, Mark will just be like any other member, where if he does not feel like coming to a meeting and/or an event, he will not have to. Mark mentioned that he would train Lorin over the next month or two so that way Lorin can take over for Mark.
- Next Meeting:
The next meeting is scheduled to take place at The Strathmore Court apartments (5440 Marinelli Road in the community room) on Wednesday November 18th. Look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
