Members Present: Melissa, Eric, Stephen. Natalie B-I, Coco, Carla, and Guest Susan.
(Susan was there to support the group’s positive structure)

- Discussions: Formation of Slate for Elections to be held in October 2010:
Requirements for Elections decided by majority vote:
A. All Candidates who are running for elections must be present at the October meeting. October 20, 2010.
B. Every one who wants to vote must be present at the October 20, 2010 meeting.
C. The Election is for a term of one year, effective at the November 2010 meeting. (The LDAMC supports that motion, there were no objections.)
D. Each Candidate will be given a chance to speak about how they will improve the group at the October meeting before the Election.
E. The election will be secret ballot.
F. Reminders e-mail and telephone to remind the members of the importance of this meeting.
G. September 2010 Nominations for Slate of Officers, October 2010 Election of Officers, November 2010 new Officers take charge.
Slate for Candidates running for election:
President: Mark, and Carla
Vice President: Walter, Stephen, Dan, and Doria
Public Relations: Walter
Communications: Dan
This completes of slate for the 2010 Election. The nominations are now closed.
- Communication:
Coco suggested that we discuss communication among members and the tone use in emails.
Everyone is voicing out their frustration, composing email thinking about what you feel and how you are affected by whatever.
Remember that you are in a support group. It is important to remember that The Fun Bunch is a support group.
- What is a support group?
As Coco has said, a support group is a place where one feels welcome, understood and supported.
That doesn’t mean that everyone agrees with everyone else or with everything,
but if anybody has any objections, any feelings, any disappointments with another member she or he should voice out
with respect and kindness.
As Susan said: "We are all better people face to face. When we send e-mails from home or work and we are upset or influenced by other things or by what you are reading or by your own thoughts or emotions it is easy to just type up all these things that are not really nice nor are they even thoughtful or thought out."
"Some people don’t know how to react to the unexpected;" Coco said, "People are different. People perceive and deal with incidents differently.
Some people need the structure and feel comfortable when things progress the way they expect."
They may over react to the unexpected. We need to try to be "flexible", not "aggressive."
- Promotion:
Also discussed was the Promotion of the group. The Fun Bunch is planning to advertise e.g.
"Join the Fun Bunch Social group for Learning Disabled adults."
Activities such as Pairs of members placing signs around promoting The Fun Bunch.
Signs could designate place to get together for Pizza.
New members are planned to be invited after the election

* Antique and Classic Car Show at the Glenview Civic Center Oct 16th
* Glenview Madison at the Rockville Civic Center.
* Gaithersburg October 10th Gaithersburg at Kentland’s has a horse drawn Hayride, you can make your own scare crow an authentic German Food

1. Two birthday celebrations: Walters & Doria will be celebrated Sunday October 3.
Eric suggested Brunch, Movie at SS regal Theater, which was changed to White Flint Mall Movie, “Social Network” and Brunch at Dave’s & Buster, then watch football
